Miniature Pringles Potato Chips

Hi everyone,
To those who wrote to encourage me, thank you. I appreciate your kind words and concern.

I've not recovered fully. I had wanted to make lots of Christmas sale but barely have energy for my shop. Many of my miniatures are waiting to be completed while some are lying there waiting to be photographed and listed. However, I am still fulfilling orders and my dollhouse miniature items are mostly sold out.

I thought I would just clear some backlog of photos. These are some Pringles chips I made a while ago. Hope you like them.

Cupcakes Boxes

Hi all,
I'm going through the darkest period of my life. I feel like withdrawing from the world but I know I need to be strong. Please pray for me.

I can't bring myself to write much but would like to share with you some miniature cupcakes I made. The tin boxes were decorated by me too.

Hope to pick myself up soon. (don't worry, I'm still fulfilling orders as miniatures make me a little happier)

Remember to say I love you to the ones you love. Do it every day.

Miniature Mooncakes for Mid-Autumn

Tomorrow is mid-autumn festival! In Singapore, we celebrate by eating mooncakes. During this month, you'll find hotels, restaurants and bakery shops selling mooncakes. Even Starbucks and Haagen-Dazs carry their own series of mooncakes. I personally prefer those sold by hotels as they taste good and the packaging is usually more attractive. In this case, I do judge a book by its cover...

This was a special request from a sweet customer (she is an old-time acquaintance - my very first local customer!). I was initially worried about doing the sliced pieces as they looked too much of a challenge. But I did it!!! It took me a lot of time but I am really happy with the results.

The yellow one is durian. The green one is traditional pandan with yolk. The pink one is strawberry with jam filling (I don't think I will like the taste in real life). The purple one is raspberry truffle (also too adventurous for me).

I'm off to eat some real mooncakes now. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

Rainbow Cake in Quarter Scale

Sorry for the lack of post. I have been busy with some commissions lately and I've not completed them! I should be able to provide an update on these exciting projects next week.

As some of you may already know, I occasionally love to work with quarter scale or 1:48 items (4 times smaller than the typical 1:12 scale). Being obsessed with rainbow cakes, I decided to make one in 1:48 scale. The cake measures about 0.25 inch in diameter. It's a challenge getting the layers but I'm really so happy with the output. ^_^

By the way, it's so quiet on Flickr. Wonder what are the more popular photo sites these days? Tumblr? Pinterest? I haven't had time to find out how these websites work!

Blog's New Look!

My blog has a new look! I made it more organised with new sections like "About Me" and "Craft Classes". Yes, I'm working on craft classes and online tutorials. Time is not on my side but I really hope to get at least one of them out before the end of this year.

Did you also notice the lovely banner? I wrote to several companies to give me a quote for setting up my online shop and designing my blog/etsy banner. Only one replied. And I must have been so lucky because their service is so so so so good! They took the initiative to look through my blog to find the best photos and understand the nature of my business. For example, I didn't tell them that my miniatures were handmade.

So if you need some help like me, their contact information is:

For those of you who insist on seeing photos when you read a blog, here are some pictures of what I've been busy with.

Custom order for a customer who is going to use them on her wedding day! Oh... I feel so honored that she chose my macaron jewelry for her big day. I wish her a blissful marriage. ^_^

Meringues and macarons order for a sweet customer from Hokkaido!

Hope you like the blog's new look!

Berries!

Berries!

I didn't mean to make a berries-theme miniature food. I did the waffles first followed by the cake. Then I realised they look like they belong together and the group photo is born.

A close-up of the cake.

And the waffles...

I hope you enjoyed looking at these photos as much as I enjoyed editing them (editing photos is my second favourite job after the crafting).

Oh yes, I'm looking for someone to set up my own online store (with shopping cart) and wonder if any of you have recommendations for me?

Nutella toasts and the two toasters

Just to share some photos of my Nutella toasts with a toaster. The toaster is a miniature supply and is made of metal. The levers actually work but you've got to be really gentle with them. These are limited edition. I made two sets as I only bought two toasters (I'm such a miser when it comes to buying miniature supplies!).

Someone on deviantART commented that the giant finger looks so realistic. LOL. I never thought of it this way - model a giant finger out of clay and take a photo of it using real food to show the scale. How creative!

I just had to stack up those toasts. I love stacks of pancakes, waffles, crepes, toasts ... the brown shades just look so nice together.

New items available at my Etsy store. Do pop by to take a look! ^_^

Pancakes again ... and Heart-o-meter

Yes... I seem to enjoy making pancakes in miniature. If you don't believe me, try typing "pancakes" in the "Search This Blog" function at the right. So here is another pancake stack, except that it is decorated with orange slices and a strawberry this time.

Recently I made an unusual miniature - 3 gingerbread men taking a milk bath in a tea cup. It may not be Christmas yet but hey, these guys can't wait. See how happy they look!

Below is the heart-o-matic statistics on my Etsy shop. I've been on Etsy for almost 4 years now. I'm not a regular seller as I only create miniatures in my free time. Hence I'm very proud to have 700 shop hearts, which means that 700 people like my shop! Thanks to those who heart my shop even though I do not often have new listings. Not forgetting my dearest customers who have contributed to the items sold. Your support means so much to me.

Have a great week ahead everyone!

6 scoop ice cream cone

Can you finish this if it was real? 6 scoops of ice cream on a cone. Quick, you have to finish before it melts!

This 1:12 scale miniature version is melt-free and I'm loving it! My favourite is the chocolate mint flavour. Now I am screaming for some ice cream. :D

A couple of cones are made into necklaces for food jewelry lovers.

Available now at my Etsy store.

Banana Split Prep Board

As I'm typing this post, I'm wondering whether things would have turned out differently if I had chosen polymer clay as my main medium. You see, air dry clay (ADC) is difficult to work with in my opinion. It dries up before you can do any serious sculpting (think Hearty clay). It does an excellent job at cakes and bread but I find it hard to sculpt vegetables and meat without the clay cracking. Grace clay is softer and doesn't dry so quickly but I wish it didn't have the elastic nature - if you make a dent using a toothpick, the dent becomes less obvious when it dries as it "bounces" back to shape.

Nonetheless, ADC has become the heart and soul of I.Love.Little.Things. I can't imagine making friends with Fimo now. It's the same in life isn't it? I also wonder what would become of me if I had studied psychology instead of actuarial science. How about you? Do you often look back in life and wonder what would happen if you had chosen a different path?

Okay... enough of my random talk.

Recently, I made a banana split preparation board. The most difficult to make were the red cherries. I wanted to replace them with some other toppings but when I googled for banana split images, almost every banana split out there comes with cherries. Why so?

Thanks for reading and a very special thank you to all my dear blogland friends who leave comments on my posts. I really appreciate them a lot. Kudos to Ascensions for leaving the most number of comments since I started this blog in 2008. I have a gift for you. Could you email your address to me at ilovelittlethings@gmail.com ?

Strawberry Cheesecake

A simple cheesecake topped with strawberries. Look! Someone has started digging into the slice of cake on the right. Check out the messy fork. I like the texture of the cut area of the cake. It looks just like cheesecakes in real life. Hope you enjoy these photos.

Pastel Meringues

Hmm...  can anyone tell me how meringues taste like? I've never tried them but they look so pretty that I had to make miniature versions of them. I never had the courage to eat them as they look like sugar overload. I'm really afraid of overly sweet food stuff. These miniature meringues unexpectedly placed me on many Treasury lists featuring pastel colors on Etsy. I feel so flattered! Welcome to the world of pastels. Hope you like these photos. ^_^

Neapolitan Cakes

Sorry for the rather blur photos. These are some miniature neapolitan cakes that I made a couple of weeks ago. Yes, neapolitan cakes are usually made in 3 layers (pink brown white) but I saw quite a number of photos of 5-layer neapolitan cakes from Google and decided to give it a try. Hope you like it!

I made a ring too, although I suppose neapolitan cakes aren't as popular as chocolate or red velvet or cheese cakes. One good example is I don't think anyone sells neapolitan cakes here in Singapore! Neapolitan ice cream yes, but cakes no...

I'm pretty sad cos Sunday is coming to an end here, which means work starts again tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'll look forward to next weekend... and hopefully get to visit The Titanic Artifact Exhibition in Singapore. For those interested to know more, here is the website - http://titanic.sg .

Quarter Scale Berry Cake

Quarter scale! 1:48 scale. This scale drives me crazy as it makes things so tiny. For those not familiar with scale, 1:48 shrinks the real-life object by 48 times. The more common scale for dollhouse is 1:12 (or one inch scale). Correct me if I made a mistake!

When I posted this photo on deviantart (click on link on the right - somehow my link function isn't working properly), someone commented that I have really skinny fingers. Yes... on hindsight, the finger does look really long here.. LOL. But this isn't my finger. It's my husband's. He calls himself the finger model and he charges me $0.50 per photo.

You can probably tell that I enjoy making quarter scale cakes very much. See my older post:
http://ilovelittlethings.blogspot.com/2011/10/one-of-my-lovely-customers-asked-if-i.html

Are there any of you who are quarter scale collectors?

Happy Easter everyone!

Happy Birthday to me

It's my birthday and hubby is out of town. So I decided to go to a quiet restaurant and have a special meal to celebrate my birthday. Nope, I don't feel lonely at all! In fact, I feel very happy today as I think about all the good things that happened to me in the past year.

I ordered this set lunch - carbonara pasta, spicy tomato soup, salad and cake of the day. I was so hungry I took a mouthful of pasta before I remembered I had to take a photo. Please don't leave comments saying how nice these miniatures are. These are REAL food and very yummy too! However, I never like tiramisu cake so I only took a few bites of the cake.

Happy Birthday to me! ^_^

Croissants

What a boring blog title I know. Language is not my forte. And at 1am in the morning, my brain is falling asleep.

Anyway, just a quick post with some new photos. These croissants are made with Hearty air dry clay. I wanted to mention that because I used to make croissants out of Grace clay. I get all excited when I try new techniques and materials.

I wanted to write about the bananas but I think I'll leave them for another post cos I have plenty of banana photos to share.

And since I made so many croissants, I turned one of them into a necklace for food jewelry lovers. Perfect for the croissant addict! (Not me, I'm a fan of pain au chocolat. ^_^)

Nutella Toast

Miniature nutella and toast in 1:12 scale... the smooth chocolatey spread is perfect for toast until...

... it dries up in real life. I was to the last bits of Nutella but I really wanted to take a big vs small photo. My miniature version is sitting on the real-life Nutella bottle. :D

Commissions welcome!
